Thomas Honorine , alias Big Tom est un beat-maker originaire de La Réunion habitant à Créteil, dans la banlieue parisienne.
Originaire de l’Étang-Salé, Big Tom est un jeune homme de 22 ans qui baigne dans le rap depuis sa plus tendre enfance.
Bien entouré par un grand frère qui coopère déjà avec les plus grands noms du rap français tel que Kaaris, Booba ou encore Niro, Big Tom commence le rap à l’âge de 8 ans.
Ainsi, l’artiste commence à composer des productions musicales, à 17ans et rejoins le collectif MOC.
Ce n’est que trois ans plus tard que Big Tom connait son premier gros succès la co-production du titre "Coco" de Wejdene. Un morceau qui lui permet d’obtenir son premier single de Platine comme compositeur. Bien lancé, Big Tom enchaîne les productions et travaille avec Franglish, Koba la D, Guy 2 Bezbar ou encore Bolemvn.
En ce mois d’août 2023, Big Tom sort son premier Ep de quatre titres, nommé "SEGA’23". Pour l’artiste, "c’est une parfaite symbiose entre mon amour pour le rap et la musique de mes origines".
Big Tom se dit très inspiré par des artistes comme Oussanousava, Baster, Danyel Waro ou Dominique Barret. Il a tenu dans cet EP "apporter l’énergie qu’il y avait autrefois dans ces musiques qui ont bercé mon enfance".
Big Tom explique ses quatre nouveaux titres :
1. " Sega’23 " est l’alerte d’une nouvelle dans l’histoire de la musique, un nouveau mélange encore jamais vu entre musique urbaine et sega .
2. " Rahul et Anjali " est inspiré du célèbre film " Kuch Kuch Hota Hai " , c’est l’histoire d’un couple qui passe son temps à se moukater mais qui finit toujours par ce réconcilier.
3. " System la lé mauvé " est un titre où j’exprime ce manque d’incompréhension de la société à mon égard, où j’exprime cette envie de changer le monde à travers mon art et de casser les modèles de société afin chacun puisse être sois même sans aucune discrimination...
4. " Mafate lé meyer " est un titre qui m’as permis de sortir de l’atmosphère pesante du morceau précédent, c’est un morceau jovial où j’imagine être à Mafate loin de cette société.
Pour Big Tom, l’important "c’est de mettre en avant mon île car, elle est l’exemple même du mélange et du partage de la culture. Notre musique est magnifique et raconte des histoires qui vont droit au coeur".
