Un Iranien a été arrêté et est interrogé "sur le sol iranien", rapporte Le Figaro. L’information a été confirmée par Le Mossad, service de renseignement extérieur israélien, qui a indiqué qu’il s’agit d’un certain de Yusef Shahabazi Abbasalilu. Il a été interpellé au cours d’une "opération contre-terroriste sur le sol iranien ". Durant son interrogation, il aurait reconnu avoir " reçu des instructions détaillées et des armes de la part de haut-gradés des Gardiens de la Révolution". Le Mossad a également annoncé que l’’arrestation de Yusef Shahabazi a conduit à l’interpellation de plusieurs autres.
Des médias locaux, citant des sources non identifiées, évoquent un projet d’attaque contre des cibles israéliennes ou juives déjoué. Il aurait été "fomenté par des suspects opérant depuis la République turque de Chypre-Nord (RTCN), une entité autoproclamée dans le nord de l’île méditerranéenne, que la Turquie est le seul pays à reconnaître".
