Le stream challenge, premier du nom, attire la foule à l’Étang-Salé en ce week-end prolongé.
70 participants, sur une vague statique, de nombreux sports de glisse possibles, surf bodyboard, stand up et un invité d’honneur le champion du monde de la discipline.
Réaliser des figures et reprendre la vague sans chuter, c’est l’un des défis de ce stream challenge. Le nouveau rendez-vous des amoureux du surf, du bodyboard, ou encore du stand up.
Ce matin, l’heure est aux derniers entraînements, et conseils reçus des coaches et juges. Jusqu’à dimanche, les participants que ce soit en individuel ou en équipe montrent leurs performances.
La maîtrise, le style et la technique sont les trois principaux critères de jugement, pour cette activité vue ici comme une alternative au surf alors que les activités nautiques sur le littoral réunionnais sont toujours interdites.
Pratiquer un surf de glisse en intérieur et un sport qui tend à se développer. Preuve en est avec le champion du monde de la discipline, Wesley Fischer, présent sur l’île a cette occasion, et qui se dit plutôt optimiste quant à l’avenir.
Ce 1er challenge à la réunion, n’est qu’un début pour le stream, les pratiquants de cette discipline pourront se perfectionner avec la naissance de la stream academy d’ici quelques mois, avant de se confronter aux meilleurs internationaux.
