Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond et James May were last week in Reunion Island. The former stars of the hit show Top Gear flew all the way to the Indian Ocean this month.
They came to shoot an episode for The Grand Tour. This new show is available on Amazon Prime Video.
Reunion Island is a french territory located west of Madagascar and east of Mauritius Island.
Jeremy Clarkson and his team drove around La Route du Littoral, a road inbetween a gigantic cliff and the ocean. While you cruise, you can see La Nouvelle Route du Littoral. That’s a highway being constructed over the ocean, one of France’s most expensive roads.
The Grand Tour also went all the way up to Cilaos. A bucolic village located 1721 meters (2300 feet) above sea level. Oh, and to get there, you better not suffer from motion sickness : You have to get through about 400 turns on the only road that goes there.
We don’t know yet where Jeremy Clarkson and his friends went. But we can speculate :
- La Plaine des Sables, that’s a road on a Mars-like plain. Why does it look like Mars ? Because it leads to an active volcano...
- Le Piton de la Fournaise : That’s Reunion Island’s active volcano ! Can’t really drive a car up there, but if anyone is going to try, it might be them (Oh, and it might also be forbidden).

Now, we wait with great anticipation for the release of that episode. And you should too ! For those of you who don’t know Reunion Island, this show might be a great way to discover the wonderful landscapes this french territory in the Indian Ocean has to offer.
On social media, Jeremy Clarkson and his friends, also mentionned the great food and beverages you can experience in Reunion Island !
For now, The Grand Tour left for Madagascar, located a few hours away by plane. The show will be available on Amazon Video !
