En quête d’un capitaine pour les Bleus avant 2011, Laurent Blanc sait maintenant qu’il ne pourra pas compter sur Yoann Gourcuff.
De retour en sélection après sa suspension, le milieu de terrain de Lyon que beaucoup comparent à Zinedine Zidane à une époque, a indiqué que le brassard de capitaine ne l’intéresse pas. "Ce n’est pas ce que je recherche pas rapport à mon caractère. Alou est capitaine à Bordeaux, c’est un très bon capitaine. Je ne l’ai jamais été même en jeune, on ne m’a jamais demandé. Pour moi, le plus important est de prendre du plaisir sur le terrain avec les autres, en jouant bien et en gagnant", explique Gourcuff.
Laurent Blanc s’est en tout cas donné jusqu’au mois de décembre pour choisir le capitaine définitif de l’Equipe de France qui sera en poste pour toute la campagne jusqu’à l’Euro 2012. "Il est possible que ce soit un joueur à qui je l’ai déjà donné avant, je ne sais pas encore... Encore faut-il que ce candidat soit titulaire et qu’il ait un comportement exemplaire dans le groupe, tant aux entraînements que dans la vie interne. Mais nous ne sommes pas pressés", indique le sélectionneur. Pour l’heure, ce dernier préfère faire tourner le brassard. Philippe Mexès l’a porté en amical contre la Norvège, Florent Malouda contre la Biélorussie et Alou Diarra dernièrement face à la Bosnie.
